After a long and wonderful life, Margaret Imelda Gorman
passed away peacefully at Pine Grove Nursing Home on November 11,
2023. She was the daughter of Margaret (McCormack) and Clarence W.
Rideout. The youngest of six siblings (Monica, Edith, Gladys, Ferne,
Frances and Hubert), she grew up on the family farm in Grand Falls
Portage.
In 1941, she married Carl W. Gorman, an engineer from
Fredericton, who was working on the highway near her home. They raised
their family in Woodstock before moving to Fredericton in 1961. At
this time she began working outside the home, including over twenty
years on the switchboard at UNB where she made many life-long
friends.
An active member of St. Dunstan’s Parish, she
served in various lay ministries until well into her nineties. A
dedicated member of the Catholic Women’s League of Canada,
she was the recipient of the Maple Leaf Pin for her years of service.
She enjoyed singing in the church choir and their many social
activities.
In her retirement she volunteered at the Pine Grove Nursing
Home and canvassed for many charities. She especially enjoyed her
weekly card games at the church centre where she developed close
friendships.
It was, however, her family, both immediate and extended,
which was the focus of her life. She adored her grandchildren and
followed their lives with such love and pride.
She is survived by two daughters, Diane Flynn (late Ray) of
Fredericton and Sharon Ciebin (Terry) of Coquitlam, BC and one
daughter-in-law, Anne-Marie Gorman (John Whalen) of Fredericton; her
grandchildren, Erin Gorman (Andrew Bishop) and their children Will,
Grant, and Claire; Kristina (Ciebin)Nelless (Brady), and their
children Kayla and Makenna; Jennifer Flynn, Sean Gorman
(Nicole) and their children Abbie and Neve, Michael Ciebin
(Michelle), Maggie Gorman (Andres Velez Guerra) and their
children Camilo, Alicia and Nicolas, Mark Gorman (April). She also
leaves to mourn many beloved nieces and nephews who brought so much
joy to her life.
She was predeceased by her husband and soul mate, Carl
(1981), her cherished son, Keith (2003), son-in-law Raymond
Flynn (2012), many close nieces and nephews, and dear
friends.
She will be remembered for her dedication to family and
community, her warm personality, her ability to relate to all ages,
her love of music, all things Irish, and her unwavering
faith.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated and
caring staff of Pine Grove Nursing Home for their compassionate and
loving care during the past five years. To the activity department and
the many community volunteers, and to the families of the residents,
thank you. We wish also to thank the owners and residents of
Lions’ Gate Apartments where she spent many enjoyable years
during her retirement.
Visitation will be held at Bishop’s Funeral Home on
Friday November 17th from 7-8 PM. and a Mass of
Christian Burial with Father Suresh as Celebrant will be celebrated at
St. Dunstan’s Roman Catholic Church on Saturday November 18,
2023, at 12 Noon, with interment to follow in the Hermitage
Cemetery. A reception will be held at Sts. John and Paul
Catholic Church, 727 New Maryland Hwy., New Maryland.

She will remain in our hearts forever.
